Women and the Great Wealth Transfer

The largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history is unfolding — and women are at the center of it. Over the next two decades, an estimated $84 to $124 trillion will pass from baby boomers to younger generations. As daughters, widows, entrepreneurs, and independent investors, women will control the majority of this wealth.

A Growing Influence

Women currently oversee approximately 34% of global wealth, equating to about $60 trillion. By 2030, that share is expected to rise to 40–45%, with women in the U.S. alone managing $30–34 trillion in assets. This rise in female-controlled wealth is not only financial — it is cultural. Women bring a different perspective to investing, one that emphasizes sustainability, legacy, and long-term impact.

Leading With Purpose

Research shows that women are more likely to invest in companies and projects that align with their values. That means greater emphasis on social impact, community engagement, and sustainability. This shift is already visible in real estate, philanthropy, and family office strategies. As women take the lead, we will see more capital flowing into projects that combine profit with purpose.

A Defining Moment

Already, women are shaping entire markets. They influence over 15% of global luxury real estate purchases, and in half of married households they drive decisions about high-value properties. In philanthropy, women are steering foundations and family offices toward more inclusive and socially conscious initiatives. Their influence extends into boardrooms, shaping companies, industries, and the very definition of success.

Looking Ahead

This wealth transfer is not only about numbers — it’s about values. The way women manage, invest, and pass on their wealth will define the future of industries from real estate to finance, wellness, and beyond. Companies, advisors, and investors that understand and embrace this shift will be the ones that thrive.

Women are not only inheriting wealth — they are inheriting influence. And with that influence, they are shaping a future that is more purposeful, more connected, and more sustainable.
